Head Lice Information Healthy Snacks

The detection of head lice is common in public schools. Head lice can be a nuisance but they have not been shown to spread disease. Additionally, personal hygiene and  cleanliness of the home or school have nothing to do with getting head lice (per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

We certainly have guidelines in place at school to help prevent the spread of lice. Please know when a case of live lice is discovered in a classroom, all parents in that particular room will be notified via letter. All students in that particular classroom will also be checked. The student(s) diagnosed with live lice will be sent home. If you should happen to discover head lice on your child at home, please contact our health assistants as soon as possible. Any student with a confirmed case of lice needs to be checked and cleared
by a health assistant before returning to school.
