End of School Year Information

End of School Year Information
Posted on 05/20/2020

Dear LSE Families,

I hope this message finds everyone healthy and well. Our teachers and staff continue to miss our students, though we are thankful for the opportunities we have had to visit with them through Google Hangout. As we approach the end of the 2019-2020 school year, we understand the importance of our students finding closure. While we wish we could celebrate the school year together in person, that is not an option currently available to us. In an effort to provide some closure and smiles to wrap-up the school year, we will be providing opportunities for students to “drive up” to the school to pick up personal items and return materials such as library books.

During specific, assigned times, classroom teachers will be at school to distribute your child’s personal belongings and other items. Similar to our Chromebook distribution pick up, please have your child ride along yet, remain in your vehicle, and follow the directions shared below. When you arrive, your child’s classroom teacher will bring your child’s belongings to your vehicle and give them a huge hello! During this exchange, please return any library books, classroom books, or other school property currently in your child’s possession. However, please keep your child’s Chromebook and charger with you over the summer. We understand that Governor Wolf has issued a “Stay At Home Order” for York County. Based on the guidelines we have received, leaving your home for this purpose is an allowable individual activity

Item drop off and pick-up will be designated by your child’s grade level during the following distribution times at the front entrance at Loganville-Springfield Elementary School.

Wednesday, June 3rd

8:30 AM - 11:30 AM Kindergarten

12:00 PM - 3:00 PM First Grade

Thursday, June 4th

8:30 AM - 11:30 AM Second Grade

12:00 PM - 3:00 PM Third Grade

In order for us to provide this opportunity as safely as possible, please adhere to the following procedure for pick up:

  • You will need to enter the school property using the new exit (local deliveries only). I know it is the exit, but this is the only entrance to our building at this time.
  • Stay in a single line of traffic to the left as you enter and stay within the cones as you loop around and stop at the front entrance.
  • Please have a sign on the passenger side window with Teacher Name and Student Last Name.
  • Please stay in your cars. Mrs. Blackwell and Dr. Kessler will use radios to inform the teacher to gather their materials.
  • Your child’s classroom teacher will then deliver items to your car.

If you are unable to come to school during your child’s scheduled timeframe, or need to pick up materials for multiple grade levels at the same time, please contact me directly at kelly.kessler@dallastown.net We understand that this is not an ideal scenario for our students, families, and staff, but we thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping our school community safe. We will continue to work together during these challenging times and look forward to the day when we can learn together again in person.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kelly Kessler
